On April 16, 2008, the PCCFA launched the first ever NATIONAL ARTS IN THE SCHOOL DAY® (NASD) with the help of actress and former NEA chair Jane Alexander. This one day set aside in the school year focuses attention on the vital role of the arts in education. Teachers across the country are encouraged to incorporate the arts into their curriculum, using art as an educational tool. At the suggestion of educators, NASD is now celebrated on the Tuesday after Columbus Day. To learn more, including how to participate, visit www.nationalartsintheschoolday.org.
