SUMMER THEATER PROGRAMS

For over 37 years, the Council has enjoyed a partnership with the Port Chester Recreation Department.  The groups have collaborated to produce some of the highest quality community theater productions in our County.

The Port Chester Children’s Theater, in existence for over 35 years, is one of the longest continuously-running programs of its type in the area, possibly in the State of New York.

During the summer of 2012, three full-length  musical productions with our  LawnChair Theater production of  “Shakespeare in the Park” were presented: “A Godspell Reunion", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Peter Pan" were the musicals and “Much Ado About Nothing” toured local parks and the Girl Scout House in Port Chester's  Lyon Park.  Our musical theater education branch,  "Pennywise Productions", directs our Winter Musical Theater Workshop which is designed to mimic a summer stock experience - their most recent production of "Smokey Joe's Cafe", involved over 20 local young people.  Over 300 local residents and 2500 audience members enjoyed the 2012-13 summer  and winter workshop productions.  Auditions for the productions are announced in the local press.

All auditions are open to the general public.
