AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

The Council has been involved in providing After School programming in the Port Chester Public Schools since 1989.  Daily
the Council provides enrichment programming at Port Chester elementary schools and over 700 children are served by our programs.  We have, for many years, addressed a strong need in the community for after school activities, and our efforts in the future will extend to serve Middle School students and those who have particular talents in the arts.

As of 2010, the Council will be the primary provider of enrichment activities in the Port Chester Public Schools' OASIS After School Programming .

SUMMER ARTSCAMP

A five week summer camp program which is coordinated with the Port Chester Children’s Theater Program to provide either half-day or full-day experiences in the Arts. Program begins the Monday following the close of school and continues through the last week of July each summer.  Please see our FORMS page for registration information.

WINTER THEATRE WORKSHOP

Takes place during the winter break from school annually, our Winter Theatre Workshop is intended to mimic a summer stock environment - to train young people of high school and college age to produce a musical in a short rehearsal period while exposing them to professionals who make their living in "the business".  Run by Pennywise Productions, a theatre education branch of the Council, a full length musical is presented annually in mid-January.

NATIONAL ARTS IN THE SCHOOL DAY
It is one day set aside in the school year when children in grades K-12 nationwide will have the opportunity to learn about and be inspired by the possibilities of the creative arts—in school.  The Port Chester Council for the Arts encourages all public and private schools across America to join them this year and every year in creating an arts-based school event or conducting classes with an arts focus. Our second annual event was held on April 15, 2009,  the third on April 15,2010, and our 2011 event was April 13, 2011.  In 2012, due to state testing schedule conflicts, NATIONAL ARTS IN THE SCHOOL DAY will be held on June 6, 2012.
